Easy Thanksgiving recipes - Herb Roasted Turkey

1 whole turkey 12 to 14 lbs, thawed
3/4 cup of olive oil
2 tbsp of garlic powder
2 tsp of dried basil
1 tsp of ground sage
1 tsp of salt
1/2 tsp of black pepper
1 whole lemon
1 whole apple
1 whole onion
2 cups of water

First of all, preheat your oven to 325 degrees. While you are waiting for the oven to heat, you can clean the turkey. When it is cleaned, place the turkey into a roasting pan.

In a bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, dried basil, ground sage, salt, and pepper. When the mixture is well combined, use a basting brush to apply the mixture to the exterior of the uncooked turkey.

Now cut the onion, apple, and lemon in to thin slices. Place the slice pieces inside the turkey. Pour the water into the bottom of the roasting pan and cover the turkey before you place it in the oven. You will need to cook the turkey for 3 to 4 hours, until the internal temperature is at 180 degrees.

When you remove the turkey from the oven, make sure to let it stand for 20 to 30 minutes before you begin carving.
